Sometimes you need a guide through unknown territory.

Consulting Services for Non-Attorneys

Short Free Consultation

No more than 15 minutes, the purpose of a free consultation is to determine if you have legal issues that could benefit from my assistance. It is not intended to provide individualized legal advice and does not establish an attorney-client relationship.

Fair Hearing Advice and Support (not representation)

Medicaid fair hearings can be handled by non-attorneys, but it can be stressful for someone unfamiliar with the rules. I can help you organize your case and answer your questions as they come up.

Review, Research & Advice

Often clients just need someone to take the time to understand what they need, look over perplexing correspondence from agencies, and give guidance on options that might be available. For this service, I would ask that you pay what you can afford. For some, that may be nothing, for others, it could be my hourly rate, and still others somewhere in between.

Not My Cup of Tea

Currently, I am not taking cases for representation or long-term consulting retainers. I do not handle Medicaid applications or financial planning. I do not assist with Social Security benefits.

Consulting Services for Attorneys

Short Free General Information

Based on my availability, I try to field general questions on Medicaid HCBS for attorneys seeking to help their clients gain access to appropriate services.

HCBS Consulting on Systemic Matters

I am also willing to consult on federal actions and other systemic advocacy. I have experience in successful federal claims, including class actions, involving ADA Olmstead and federal civil rights based on due process or violations of the Medicaid Act.

Consulting on Administrative Matters

Helping your client receive the HCBS benefits needed to avoid institutionalization is important work. If you would like support for that journey, I can act as consultant during the course of your representation. The level of support depends on your own comfort and experience and the obstacles you may encounter.

Fees

My goal is to pass on the knowledge I have gained through years of experience with Medicaid HCBS programs. If you are a private attorney representing a client pro bono, I will consider providing consultative support pro bono as well. Otherwise, we can work out a fee arrangement that is fair to you and your client.

I do not assist with any financial Medicaid planning or Social Security. Contact the Florida Bar for referrals to Elder Law or Social Security attorneys in your area.
